Source and scope
Published extract of the design-decision record dated 8–9 August 2026. Sections 1, 3 and 4 concern coverage measurement, coating geometry and the comparison of alternatives. Prepared for public reference on 13 October 2026; translated and edited from the Japanese record.
Definition of coverage
The record defines coverage against each figure’s total surface. It corrects a method that counted image brightness, because lighting and shadows on exposed wood affected the result, and uses the mask specifying the coating instead. These values are design specifications, not measurements of finished physical coatings.

The end values remained fixed. The record judges A to distinguish two frontal stages, B three frontal stages and five from the side, and C five frontal stages but a cluster of the first four in side view. B was adopted.
Geometry and time
An initial nose-distance approach was changed to an approach extending around the body from the face direction. The selected values do not use a formula converting elapsed time into coated area.

被覆率の定義
被覆率の基準は各像の表面全体です。画像の明るさで数える方法は、照明と木地の影に影響されるため訂正し、塗装範囲を指定するマスクを基準としました。値は制作の設計指定であり、完成品の塗膜の実測値ではありません。

両端を固定し、中間三体を変えています。設計比較では、Aは正面で二段階、Bは正面で三段階・真横で五段階、Cは正面で五段階だが真横で最初の四体が近いと判断しました。Bを採用しています。
塗装範囲と時間の対応
鼻先からの直線距離による案から、顔の方向を起点に身体の周囲へ回り込む範囲を扱う方法へ変更しました。採用値は、時間の長さから塗装面積を算出する式によるものではありません。
